Shell (UK) has thousands of staff across several sites in London, all perfectly perched on high spec Herman Miller Aerons and Mirras. These are design icons – icons that cost over £1000 new, with refurbished models still commanding around £400 per chair. Created in 1994 by Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick, the Aeron was a pioneer in health-benefits with environmental credentials and was a completely innovative design.  The ergonomics and innovative materials contributed to a comfortable office chair solution without the use of foam, fabric or leather. No wonder they are still seen in movies, on TV (BBC’s Newsnight and more!)

Shell came to Eden to see if we could help them refurbish them rather than them having to buy new. As always, we rose to the challenge.

Over the last few months we have collected, audited, refurbished, asset tagged and delivered back over 500 chairs.  To avoid too much disruption we’ve done them in batches of 50 at a time.  And the cost…well let’s just say it’s less than half the cost of new, including powder coating the bases, new castors, yokes, gas lifts….
