To celebrate the welcoming of the year of the Rooster. We are looking at Danish pioneering furniture designer, Hans. J Wegner. What does he have to do with the Chinese New Year I hear you ask? Well the correlation between the two may not be exact but in 1944 Wegner, known as Master of The Chair, designed a series of Ming dynasty inspired chairs. The designs captured the natural characteristics of wood using exquisite shapes and joints. The chairs were made of solid wood with a divine Chinese horse shoe shaped back rest curved to form the arms.

Now depending on your budget, you might find these Chinese inspired chairs sitting in a few different cost bands – see what we did there!

A pair of authentic Wegner Chinese Chairs can cost over £5000! But if you want the real deal, a pair of 17th Century Ming Dynasty Chinese chairs, you might want to double check with the account director first because they can set you back almost £16,000!

We guess he is not called Master of the Chair for nothing!
