Recycling has been a big subject for a while but having taken the first ‘easier’ steps, more imaginative solutions are going to be needed to bring the country to net zero carbon by 2050. The good news is that Eden can help save money AND help clients look good on the recycling front.
Mark Hanson’s thought provoking article in Property week suggests that “if you examine the whole lifecycle carbon footprint of a typical commercial property, around 50% of its lifetime emissions come from its construction.” Reuse of materials, particularly SMEs without the big budgets for recycled products, could make a big difference to the overall picture.
Hanson thinks that we are a way off the summit of the net zero mountain, but that we can see it and we have the determination.
